What is Scouting all about?
If you think Scouting’s just about knots, woggles and big shorts, then be prepared to be surprised. It’s how Richard Branson, Barack Obama and David Beckham got their start in life and you can benefit too.
There are 400,000 young people in Scouting, spread across five sections: Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and the Scout Network. Each section has its own balanced programme of activities, badges and awards.
Currently the Scout Troop and both Cub Packs are operating at maximum capacity and with regular movements between sections this is likely to continue for the foreseeable future. Accordingly we only accept recruits into our two Beaver Colonies and as both are currently full we operate a Waiting List. If you wish your child to be added to this list, please note the following:
He/she must have attained their 5th birthday
Beaver age range is 6-8 though we would prefer to try and give a child as far as possible the maximum 2 years as a Beaver
Preference is given to children of existing leaders
Preference is also given to brothers/sisters of children who have been Group members before.
Please contact James Adams, Group Scout Leader at firstname.lastname@example.org detailing your child's name and date of birth and your contact details. James will advise the up-to-date situation.
Due to demands for places particularly in Scout and Cub Scout sections, we are anxious over the course of the next 6 months to recruit new leaders for all sections of the Group to enable us to be able to consider the possibility of forming a second Scout Troop or a third Cub Pack.
We feel sure that in Peebles and the environs there must be people who have enjoyed the fun of Scouting in the past and who might now be willing to put something back.
Experience would be an asset, particularly at Scout level but not essential. Much more important is a desire to be part of a group and to accept that volunteering involves enthusiasm and a regular commitment. Of course training is offered and is a requirement for all leaders.
If you feel you could offer your services to the Group or you would like further information, please contact our Group Scout Leader at email@example.com
